What is an Ad Unit?

Ad Units are the display ad boxes that a webmaster places on his/hers website. It is these containers that from now on will broadcast ads from the Bitmedia crypto ad platform as well as partner ad platforms if you opt for it. The latter can be resultant in case there are no suitable ads that fit the theme of your publication within Bitmedia.

How to create a new Ad Unit

Now that we know what Ad Units are all about, it is time to create your first one. This is how you do it:

1. Click on Create New Ad Unit

2. Give it a name and click Continue

create new unit

3. Select the Ad Unit container shape (Square, Horizontal or Vertical rectangle)

4. Choose the container size that fits your website and click Continue. Note that you can select more than one size, which means that the container will change in size automatically depending on the banner ad size.

5. Set Backup Ads. These are backup display ads that can be broadcasted through your Ad Unit in case none of Bitmedia’s ads fit your website profile. It is an incredibly rare occurrence but just so your banner containers don’t show up blank, your backup ads options are as follows:

  • Bitmedia referral — approved partners
  • Google AdSense — link your Google AdSense account
  • HTML — submit your own banners
  • HTML and JS — submit your own banners (see below)
choose unit size

6. Add your Ad Unit to your website. Simply copy and paste the code to your website. See our Step by Step Guide. Once done, click ‘Finish Setup’ and enjoy the stats growth on the Publisher Dashboard.

Setting up your own HTML Backup Ads

We strongly advise to use Bitmedia’s Referral ads as backup, since we pre approve every partner platform we work with. Nevertheless, if you would still prefer to use your own banners, you can do so by selecting HTML or HTML and JS Backup Ads option.

  • Insert direct source link
  • Tick or untick Async
  • Add HTML code of your backup banners
  • Paste <script> tag
  • Click Create Ad Unit and then copy the Bitmedia container code to your website as shown here.
